Kenneth Finn

Kenneth Finn, a native of Syracuse, NY, is the trombonist with the New York Symphony Ensemble and the New York Symphonic Brass. He is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Kenn has toured in Japan, Europe, and the United States and recorded with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. His Met Opera recording on the tenor-tuba of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Strauss’ Don Quixote can be found on the DGG label. In the Opera’s 1994-1995 season he was the bass trumpet soloist in Wagner’s Ring Cycle. His recent recording with the New York Symphonic Brass also includes euphonium and bass trumpet arrangements. Finn can also be heard on the bass trumpet with the New York Trumpet Ensemble recording of The Heroic Mr. Handel. Kenn has appeared with the American Brass Quintet Brass Band in two original instrument Civil War recordings on the baritone horn and solo trombone. As an active New York City musician, he was in three Broadway musicals: Candide, 1776, and The Music Man. Throughout the summer season, he plays at the Caramoor Music Festival with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Bard Music Festival with the American Symphony Orchestra, and the OK Mozart Festival with the Amici Orchestra. Kenn studied trombone with Dr. Per Brevig and Doug Edelman of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra while a student at SUNY Purchase and also attended the University of Mimi in Coral Gables, FL.
