Daniel Haskins, principal

Percussionist Daniel Haskins is an artist who performs in many styles of music. He is currently the Principal Percussionist of the Opera Orchestra of New York and Stamford Symphony, and Principal Timpanist of The American Classical Orchestra which performs on period instruments. He is a member of the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra where he performs as Percussionist and Timpanist at the Metropolitan Opera House. Daniel has performed with many ballet companies including the Australian, Royal, Stuttgart, and Canadian. He was Principal Timpanist of the New York City Opera National Company from 1978-1988, and formerly the Timpanist of the National Grand Opera, Metropolitan Opera Guild, L’Opera Francais de New York, New York Grand Opera, and Group for Contemporary Opera in NY. Daniel Haskins has performed many shows on Broadway. Recently, he was the Percussionist for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White, and is currently the Percussionist for the Broadway Production of Mary Poppins. Daniel Haskins performed as Percussionist with the Radio City Orchestra for more than 20 years playing for the Christmas Spectacular and other shows at Radio City Music Hall. Recordings and broadcasts on which Daniel Haskins can be heard include Live from Lincoln Center with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Opera Orchestra of New York Live in Carnegie Hall, cast albums with the Radio City Orchestra, and television broadcasts from Radio City Music Hall. He was featured on VH1 Storytellers with Stone Temple Pilots, and has accompanied a wide range of artists including James Taylor, Elton John, Sting, Britney Spears, Pavarotti, Whitney Houston, Brian Wilson, Yo-Yo Ma, and many more. Daniel has also recorded many movie soundtracks and commercial jingles.
