I want to welcome all the contributors – individuals, corporate sponsors, and foundations alike – who have joined the Stamford Symphony family this year, and to thank them for their generous support. I also want to express our sincerest gratitude to all those who have contributed to our fine orchestra over the years and have helped immeasurably to make it the highly professional organization it is today.

Because ticket sales cover only about 40% of our annual budget, we are dependent for our continued success on the support of our subscribers, individual contributors, and sponsors. Your gifts help to maintain the financial health of the orchestra and ensure that we can continue to offer a rich and exciting series of musical programs for audiences of all ages.

There are many wonderful examples of support from the members of our community. Several patrons in our subscriber family are dedicated to providing music for the next generation: two families support our college scholarship competition giving promising students the financial ability to pursue their music studies. Another patron supports Stamford Symphony music programs for children such as MusiKids and elementary school residencies. A third patron has made a bequest that will fund a recital series for the next generation of performing musicians. Recently we received a three-year pledge that will fund student concerts for all fourth and fifth grade classes in the Stamford public school system.

The Stamford Symphony is deeply grateful for these major gifts, but equally important are the individual contributions we receive from subscribers and other members of audience all year long. I want to express our sincere appreciation. And I urge you to consider making a contribution to the Stamford Symphony now, to help us continue providing the best in classical music to our community.
