Ragtime Rondezvous at the Stamford Symphony Speakeasy

Nearly 300 revelers in flapper and gangster garb enjoyed a little ragtime fun on Saturday, October 15th, for the Symphony's Gala and Opening Night. Sponsored by Harman International and Virgin Atlantic Airways, over $225,000 was raised and all proceeds from evening will support the Symphony's mission of encouraging a lifelong appreciation of classical music.

Maestro Eckart Preu and Symphony Board Chairman, Steve Parrish, presented the Conductor's Baton Award to Dinesh C. Paliwal, Chairman, President & CEO of Harman International, for his support of the Stamford Symphony and his commitment to music and the arts in Stamford.

Jimmy Locust, a world-renowned choreographer, is the founder and director of the Locust Performing Arts Center in Stamford where 300 (adults and children) students each year take classes in a variety of dance styles.

Benjamin Steinhardt, pianist, has performed in venues throughout the United States and Europe, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Merkin Concert Hall, among others. Mr. Steinhardt is currently the Music Director for the six-time Emmy-winning "News in Revue" and is on faculty at the Long Ridge Music Center in Stamford.

Nicole Tori, vocalist, has traveled the world performing in theaters across Asia, Europe and the US, including Carnegie Hall, The Shanghai Grand Theatre, The Esplanade in Singapore and The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, among others. Nicole is a private voice instructor, a NY-state certified music teacher and a proud Actors Equity member.
