"This program was designed to invite the audience on a journey, travelling through time and across the sea. Listeners will experience a wide range of repertoire written from the 17th through the 20st centuries," said Symphony Music Director Eckart Preu. "The imperial courts of Europe are represented with Strauss Emperor Waltzes and a Brandenburg Concerto while the liveliest American traditions will be heard on the Stars and Stripes Forever and The Entertainer Rag. This concert will truly have something for everyone. Even if you have never been to the symphony before you will recognize many tunes. The relaxed atmosphere in the park with the restaurants nearby makes this a unique event, and having a live orchestra on stage Downtown makes this a special event for the musicians as well."
